Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Chinese success

Sir, — The Chinese Premier's visit to Bangalore was the latest in a series of visits by the Chinese to find out how India got to where it is in information technology. The purpose obviously is to emulate and then excel India's success.

Do our politicians or businessmen visit China to find out the reasons behind their phenomenal success in manufacturing? Have we given up? IT and services alone cannot employ all of our unemployed. We should definitely aim for a piece of the manufacturing pie too.

Dheerendra Talur,
Reston, U.S.
