Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Telecom services

Sir, — Is it not surprising that no one has asked why telecom services including long distance calls are offered at much cheaper rates now, while we were forced to pay exorbitant rates for rather inefficient services for such a long time? Or, like good Indians, we should not look the gift horse in the mouth.

Prem Chandran John,
Chennai

Sir, — The BSNL announced a slash in STD rates from Jan. 14. But it has also reduced the call-time from two minutes to 30 seconds for calls within 50 km to 200 km. Telephone users of these distance calls now cough up four times the rates they used to pay. This is a reprehensible step.

S. Srinivasan,
Peravurani, T.N.
