Thyagaraja's house

Sir, — The article `Thyagaraja's house to be converted into memorial' (Jan. 22): Rangaswamy Moopanar, president, Sri Thyaga Brahma Mahotsava Sabha, Thiruvaiyaru, has plans to convert Thyagaraja's house at Thirumanjanam Street, Thiruvaiyaru, into a temple for the saint composer with a `dhyana mandapam'. The house has to be preserved as a national monument, without disturbing the serenity, sanctity and divinity of the place. The present `samadhi' on the river bank, with an idol of Thyagaraja and a spacious hall, serves the purpose of Mr. Moopanar's thinking.

R. Yagnaraman,
