By B. Muralidhar Reddy
ISLAMABAD, JAN. 27. The Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, has convened on January 31 a two-day meeting of top military commanders for a comprehensive review of the state of preparedness of the Pakistan army, in the context of the standoff with India.
Gen. Musharraf is expected to brief the top brass of the military about his forthcoming visit to the United States and the issues he proposes to raise with the U.S. President, George W. Bush.
The meeting to be held at the Army headquarters in Rawalpindi would review the security situation and the state of military preparedness. A media report said the strategy to be adopted to deal with the extradition of 14 Indians in the 20 list of criminals and terrorists forwarded by it could figure at the conference.
In the meeting, Musharraf would inform the commanders about his talks with world leaders, and a series of visits by civil and military leaders from the U.S. to help ease tensions between India and Pakistan.
