Cauvery tribunal arguments

NEW DELHI, JAN. 28. The final arguments before the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal will begin here tomorrow and counsel for Tamil Nadu will commence his arguments first.

The tribunal, headed by Justice N.P. Singh, had passed an interim order in June 1991 directing the Karnataka Government to release 205 tmc ft of water to Tamil Nadu every year. It also passed related interim orders in April 1992 and December 1995.

The Supreme Court had upheld the validity of the tribunal's interim order.
