V.P. Singh stages dharna

LUCKNOW, JAN. 31. Former Prime Minister, Vishwanath Pratap Singh, today staged a dharna at GPO park here demanding disclosure of accounts of expenditure incurred on developmental work by people's representatives.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Singh said the people have a right to know how the funds given to their representatives were being spent. He said he had written to the presidents of all the political parties urging them to direct their MPs and MLAs in this regard.

He said activists of the ``Kisan Manch'' would oppose all those candidates in the elections who had not acceded to his demand irrespective of their party affiliations. He said he would campaign only for those Lok Morcha candidates, who had furnished details of their expenditure.

Those found guilty of involvement in defence scams ``should be tried for treason'', he said adding they are more dangerous than terrorists.
