Proteas book berth in finals
PERTH, FEB. 1. A brilliant all-round performance by skipper Shaun Pollock propelled South Africa to the triangular series finals with a crushing 67-run win over New Zealand at the WACA on Friday.
After smashing 69 runs, including six sixes, off 34 balls in South Africa's 270 for five in 50 overs, Pollock snared two wickets for 55 as New Zealand was restricted to 203 for eight in 50 overs.
Jonty Rhodes top scored for South Africa with his second one-day international century, scoring 107 not out off 135 balls with nine fours and sharing two match-winning stands to rescue the side from 35 for four.
