Ghei bags crown

KOLKATA, FEB. 2. With a final round score of three under 69, Gaurav Ghei of Delhi made a splendid back-nine charge to snatch the Telegraph Open golf championship title from overnight leaders Uttam Singh Mundy and Digvijay Singh with a four-round aggregate of three under 285 at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club course here on Saturday.

Ghei, in registering season's first win, took the winner's cheque of Rs. 1,62,000. His effort made him the 11th winner on the Hero Honda Golf Tour of the season.

This Open marked the end of the 18th leg of the Tour as well.

Mundy finished second and Singh third with aggregates of one under 287 and one over 289 respectively. Mundy, tied for the lead with Ghei till the 16th, was done in by a double bogey on the 17th.
