UP, Delhi score wins

ANANTAPUR, FEB. 3. Uttar Pradesh and Delhi won their league encounters in the Rajat Bhargava National cricket tournament for women here on Sunday. Delhi beat Mumbai by 45 runs while UP defeated Tamil Nadu by three wickets.

In the first match played at Arts College grounds, Tamil Nadu, which opted to bat, was bowled out for 195 by UP in 49.1 overs. Skipper and opener Manjula played a scintillating knock of 95 runs (116 balls, 11 fours) and Laxmipriya contributed a useful 30. Among the UP bowlers Shanno Kumari claimed three wickets. UP eves reached the target in 48.3 overs by losing seven wickets. The UP innings had four runouts.

At Junior College grounds, Delhi won the toss and scored 188 for 9 wickets in its allotted 50 overs. Rajani Sharma scored 83, with contributions from Asha (33) and Reema Malhotra (29). Chasing the target the Mumbai was out for 143 runs in 49 overs. For Delhi, off spinner Reema Malhotra claimed 5 wickets conceding 36 runs.

The scores: Tamil Nadu 195 all out in 49.1 overs (Manjula 95, Laxmipriya 30; Shanno three for 44) lost to UP 196 for seven in 48.3 overs (Parul Chowdary 42, Achyuta Trivedi 30).

Delhi 189 for nine in 50 overs (Rajani 83, Arpita three for 34 and Sonali three for 31) beat Mumbai 143 all out in 49 overs (Arpita 27, Reema Malhotra five for 36)
