Ex-Minister's house attacked
By A Correspondent

IMPHAL, FEB. 4.Two persons, including a Manipur Rifles trooper, were killed and four seriously wounded late on Saturday night when suspected insurgents attacked the house of a former Minister of State for Home, Moirangthem Oken, at Heirok in Thoubal district. The jawan was one of the security guards while the other was a political worker.

Mr. Oken and his supporters had just come home to receive Mani Shankar Aiyar, general secretary of the Congress, who is on a pre-election tour.

Two minutes after the departure of Mr. Aiyar, the unknown youths opened fire using automatic rifles. Mr. Oken is contesting the coming Assembly elections on the Congress ticket.
