Roddick, Sampras give U.S. the lead
OKLAHOMA CITY, FEB. 9. Using a combination of youth and guile, the United States rode gutsy performances from Andy Roddick and Pete Sampras to forge a 2-0 lead over Slovakia in their first round Davis Cup tie. Sampras was forced to battle hard to overcome Karol Beck 6- 3, 6-7, 6-1, 7-5 in the opening rubber on Saturday.
