JAIPUR, FEB. 10. Sachin Pilot, the Wharton Business School educated 26-year-old son of the late Congress leader, Rajesh Pilot, today joined the Congress at a rally here today.

The former Chief Ministers, including Bhajan Lal of Haryana, the Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, and the State PCC(I) president, Girija Vyas, were at the Amrtuton Ka Bagh grounds to witness the induction of the next generation Pilot on the birth anniversary of the late leader.

Jubilant farmers, mostly from the Gujjar community which formed the late Pilot's support base, continued to come even two hours after the announced time of meeting.

A message from Ms. Gandhi, read out on the occasion, talked only about the birth anniversary of the late Rajesh Pilot and nothing about Sachin joining the party. ``Rajesh Pilot occupies a special place in the country's politics. This is the occasion to dedicate ourselves to progressive, secular and democratic values upheld by him,'' the message said.

Sachin, donning the traditional headgear identified with his late father, said he would carry forward the legacy of ``Pilot Saheb''.
