Ansari's 'aide' held

GANDHINAGAR, FEB. 11. Rajendra Anadkat alias Raju Sharma, believed to be an aide of terrorist Aftab Ansari, was arrested by the Gujarat police today and brought to Rajkot, his home town, where he was wanted in connection with kidnapping and other cases.

According to the Home Secretary, K. Nityanandam, Sharma would be produced before the Rajkot district and sessions court tomorrow for remand.

The Rajkot Police Commissioner, Upendra Singh, said during interrogation Sharma confessed to have been involved in the kidnapping of two diamond merchants from Rajkot, Bhaskar Parekh and Paresh Shah in November 2000, as well as in the smuggling of arms and RDX.
