PMO denies seer's claim

NEW DELHI, FEB 11 The Prime Minister's Office tonight denied the Udupi Pejawar Mutt chief's claim that A.B. Vajpayee had told VHP leaders that he would rather resign than hand over the undisputed land at Ayodhya to them for building a Ram temple.

The VHP leaders, during their meeting with the Prime Minister on January 27, had asked him to examine if the undisputed land could be transferred to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas Trust. The Prime Minister had agreed to refer this matter to the Law Minister, a PMO spokesman said. This decision was accepted by all VHP leaders. PTI
