By Our Special Correspondent TIRUPATI, FEB. 14. The Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), official custodian of the Hill Temple of Lord Venkateswara and its enormous riches, has been exempted from the Income Tax net for three more years. As the three-year exemption granted earlier by the Union Ministry of Finance is lapsing shortly, a communication granting a fresh renewal is said to have reached the TTD headquarters here on Wednesday. The Income Tax Department has been trying rather unsuccessfully for the last decade-and-a-half to bring the income of the TTD - about Rs. 500 crores per annum approximately - under the tax net.
