BANGALORE, FEB. 16. The former Prime Minister, V.P.Singh, today said that cracks would appear in the BJP-led NDA at the Centre after the outcome of the Uttar Pradesh elections. Talking to presspersons here, Mr. Singh said contradictions were inherent in the NDA combine and cracks would appear soon. The defeat of the BJP-led alliance was certain and the SP-led front would emerge victorious in Uttar Pradesh. He hit out at the Prime Minister, A. B. Vajpayee, for not raising the issue of corruption in Defence deals in the election campaign. The issue was serious and it threatened the security of the country. Corruption in Defence was an ``act of treason,'' and the guilty should be punished, Mr. Singh said. On the Ram temple issue, he said the Government had now taken the same stand that he, as Prime Minister, had taken: that the issue should be solved through negotiation and mutual consent or by court verdict. Though the VHP had promised that it would abide by the court verdict, it had gone back on it.
