Letters to the Editor
Sir, In his letter (Feb. 15), Shailendra Joshi says, "It was a Hindu who shot Gandhi." Such an act of intolerance cannot be attached to any religion. The attitude of attaching a religion to every person and every incident should go. If I am a Hindu, it is simply because my parents are Hindus. Is it not possible for us to be free from these bindings? But it doesn't mean that we have to support the ideas of M.B. Kunte (Feb. 15), who says, "Did anybody question the construction of the Hirakud or the Bhakra Nangal dams even though several religious places were submerged?" Does that mean we should allow the construction of better buildings by destroying temples? Nobody can justify Babar's act of destroying the Ram temple and constructing the Babri Masjid there. K.S. Raghavendra, Shimoga, Karnataka
