Sashidhar knocks out Nagaraj

VISAKHAPATNAM, FEB. 17. Top-seeded B. Nagaraj was knocked out by Sashidhar in the quarterfinals of the second Pepsi-Nilgiris Cup AP State invitation prize money badminton tournament being organised by the Friends Club at the Swarna Bharati Indoor Stadium here on Sunday.

Sashidhar won 7-1, 5-7, 7-0, 7-1. The tournament was not a good one for Nagaraj, who managed to make the knock-out quarterfinals (after the organisers decided to start the knockout phase from the last eight instead of last four). He tied with Uday Bhaskar and B. Kiran Kumar with four points in group `A' league. Uday and Nagaraj qualified for the knockout stage having 7-4 and 8-5 win-loss position in the games they played. Uday took the top position in the group with a better points difference of nine points (61 points won and 52 lost) to Nagaraj's eight (69 won, 61 lost). Kiran, who beat Nagaraj on the first day, won seven games and lost six.
