One killed in poll violence

LUCKNOW, FEB. 17. One person was killed and a candidate of the Kalyan Singh-led Rashtriya Kranti Party was among two injured when assailants opened fire at a village in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh district today, police said here.

The RKP candidate from the Gopalpur Assembly constituency, Harishankar Singh _ accused in 39 cases _ received minor pellet injuries, when he, along with two others, was shot at by assailants near Kauripar. One person died on the spot.
