SGPC suspends holy visits to Pakistan

PHAGWARA, FEB. 18. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC) will conduct no pilgrimage to Pakistan because of tension along the India-Pakistan border, the SGPC president, Kirpal Singh Badungar, said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the holy visits to Pakistan _ home to a number of historic gurdwaras _ could be made only when relations between the two countries eased and regular transport resumed. An SGPC executive meeting would be held on February 20 in Amritsar, he added.
