NEW DELHI, FEB. 18. India's Deputy High Commissioner in London, Hardeep Puri, was today appointed the next permanent representative in Geneva and the incumbent there, Savitri Kunadi, has been made Ambassador of France. Announcing some important appointments abroad, an External Affairs Ministry press release, however, was silent about the present Ambassador in France, Kanwal Sibal's, next posting. Himachal Som, Additional Secretary and Director General of Indian Council of Cultural Relations here, has been appointed as the next Ambassador to Italy. He will succeed Siddarth Singh. Vidya Sagar Verma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry has been appointed as the next Ambassador to Kazakhstan in succession to S. R. Hashim. Bhaskar Kumar Mitra, present Ambassador to Uzbekistan, has been appointed as Ambassador to Bahrain in succession to S.S. Gill. The release said they are expected to take up their assignments shortly. -PTI
