Bold Bird wins main event

BANGALORE, FEB. 23. Dr. M.A.M. Ramaswamy's Bold Bird (Woods up) won the Governor's Trophy, the main event of the races here today. The winner is trained by Ganapathy.

Fines: Midway up the straight Secret Silver violently swerved to the right and crashed into the false rails. Jockey Appu, who was unseated, however escaped unhurt. A. Imran Khan, rider of Plain Truth in the Malpe Plate was fined Rs. 1,000 for not maintaining a straight course. Shakti Singh, rider of Society Dream in the Governor's Trophy, was fined Rs.3,000 for excessive use of the whip. Harish, rider of Affined in the Jog Cup, was fined Rs. 3,000 for excessive use of the whip. Shareef, rider of Beautiful Bird in the Murudeswara Plate was fined Rs. 2,000 for not persevering with his mount. The Stewards held an enquiry into the improved performance of Golden Fellowship as compared to its previous run and decided to fine trainer M.B. Mangalorkar Rs. 10,000 for inconsistent running of his charge.

Nagesh suspended: Further to an enquiry into the running and riding of B. Puttanna-trained Nesara (Nagesh up) in the Makedatu Plate on Friday, the Stewards today decided to withdraw the licence of jockey Nagesh from March 15 to September 30, 2002 for not allowing his mount to run on its merits.
