Dissident Congressmen greet AIADMK chief

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI FEB.24. Taking dissidence in the TNCC to a new height, a former Union Minister and a sitting MP of the Congress today greeted Ms. Jayalalithaa on her ``remarkable victory''.

A former Minister and an erstwhile TNCC chief, K.V. Thangabalu, termed the victory a ``birthday gift'' and a ``victory of the people's mandate''.

In a personal message to ``Puratchi Thalaivi'', he said ``your becoming the Chief Minister will pave the way for the new era in the history of the State and nation''.

The Sivaganga MP, Sudarsana Natchiappan, said ``this victory has given fresh life to the people's mandate given in the 2001 election''. He thanked the people of Andipatti and the Congress volunteers who worked in the constituency ``under Sonia Gandhi's orders''.
