Rajkot, Feb. 24. Underworld don, Aftab Ansari, arrested by the CBI after his deportation from Dubai for his alleged involvement in several criminal cases including the attack on the American Centre in Kolkata, was remanded to 14 days police custody in connection with the kidnapping case of two city-based businessmen. Ansari, alias Mohammad Farhan Mallick alias Surendra Jat, was brought to the Judicial Magistrate's house last night in tight police security to seek remand when the Magistrate, D .D Rajput , remanded him to police custody till March nine for detailed interrogation. The city police are probing Ansari's involvement in the kidnapping of jeweller's son, Bhaskar Parekh and his friend Paresh Shah and his possible links with the criminal's network. Investigating officer, K. N. Patel, told reporters on Saturday that during the initial investigation, Ansari had revealed that Rajendra Anadkat alias Raju Sharma, who was also deported from Dubai along with him, had assisted him in kidnapping the duo for ransom of Rs .20 crores. Anadkat has already been remanded to police custody on February 12 in connection with the kidnap case. Bhaskar and Parekh were abducted in November 2000 and released in December on personal settlement. Police also wanted to know about the arms used in the kidnapping and the distribution of the ransom money received from the party to the tune of Rs. 2.75 crores for the release of the abducted. Ansari was earlier remanded to the CBI custody on February 16 by a Radhanpur court after the agency produced him and sought his remand in connection with the case of seizure of RDX and arms cache from Patan in October, 2001, in which he is the main accused. _ PTI
