NEW DELHI, FEB. 27. The Ferozeshah Kotla Ground has the distinction of hosting the first ever Test match in post-independence India when the touring West Indian team played in November 1948. Since then the ground has hosted 26 Test matches in all. Highest team scores: 644-8d by West Indies v India, 1958-59; 631 by West Indies v India, 1948-49; 566-8d by India v West Indies, 1978-79. Lowest team scores: 75 by India v West Indies, 1987-88; 107 by Australia v India, 1969-70. Highest individual scores: 230* - Bert Sutcliffe for New Zealand v India, 1955-56; 227 - Vinod Kambli for India v Zimbabwe, 1992-93; 203* - Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi for India v England, 1963-64; 200* - Rahul Dravid for India v Zimbabwe, 2000-01. In all 52 hundreds have been scored at this venue, with India scoring 28 and Zimbabwe two (both by Andy Flower). Best individual bowling performances (in an innings): 10-74 - Anil Kumble for India v Pakistan, 1998- 99; 8-52 - Vinoo Mankad for India v India, 1952-53; 8-69 - Sikander Bakht for Pakistan v India, 1979-80. Best individual bowling performances (in a match): 14-149 - Anil Kumble for India v Pakistan, 1998- 99; 13-131 - Vinoo Mankad for India v Pakistan, 1952-53; 12-152 - S. Venkatraghavan for India v New Zealand, 1964-65.
