VHP protest meet on Sunday

By Our Staff Reporter

Bangalore March 1. The State unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will hold a protest meeting on March 3 at the Malleswaram ground here, B.N. Murthy, VHP Zonal Secretary, told presspersons on Friday. He condemned the attack on passengers aboard the Sabarmati Express at Godhra in Gujarat. "It was a brutal and inhuman attack. Those responsible for it should be dealt with severely and punished." He called for a larger condemnation of the incident by the media, and political leaders. Talking about the "Bharat bandh" called by the organisation on Friday, he said the response had been quite good in Arsikere, Udupi, Hassan, Chikmagalur, and Belgaum, though it was not observed in Bangalore. He said the people going to Ayodhya were "Ramsevaks". "It is like a pilgrimage for them. So there is no reason why they should not go there." According to him, the "Ramsevaks" would march towards Ayodhya to have their "purnahuti" in the Sarayu river. Around 5,000 "Ramsevaks" were expected to attend the ceremony from March 14 to 16, he said. Y.K. Raghavendra Rao, all-India Vice-President of the VHP, was present.
