Nationalist Unity Front demands resignation of NDA Government
By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, MARCH 2. The recently-formed Nationalist Unity Front today demanded the resignation of the NDA Government and dismissal of the Gujarat Government charging that they ``cannot safeguard law and order against the rising communal and fundamentalist forces''.

In a joint statement, the Front leaders said the recent Assembly election results showed clearly that the voters had rejected the BJP and its allies and backed secular parties.

``The Prime Minister and his party had tried to whip up a war hysteria and to take electoral advantage of it. The Sangh Parivar members even resurrected the Ayodhya temple issue. But it is evident that the voters were no more impressed by these gimmicks''.

The statement said that the message of the Assembly elections was that those who fought in the polls on the platform of secularism and development should now rise above petty party considerations and unitedly try to provide competent government.

The statement was signed by Subramanian Swamy (Janata Party), O.P. Srivastva (SJP-R), K.B. Mishra (Indian Ekta Party) and Tariq Anwar (NCP).
