LONDON, MARCH 2. India's Gundappa Viswanath was among the four distinguished former Test cricketers named by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday to form its new panel of match referees. The four join former Sri Lankan captain Ranjan Madugalle who was named as chief referee in December last year. Besides Viswanath and Madugalle, the former Test players Clive Lloyd (West Indies), Mike Procter (South Africa), Wasim Raja (Pakistan) are in the new panel. All Test playing countries were asked to nominate candidates for the referees panel with more than 30 screened and interviewed by Madugalle. The final appointments were made jointly by Speed and Sunil Gavaskar, chairman of the ICC cricket committee-playing. - PTI
