Gowda seeks aid for riot victims

ARSIKERE MARCH 2. The former Prime Minister, H.D.Deve Gowda, MP, urged the district administration here on Saturday to provide maximum compensation to the victims of arson and looting in the town, which took place on Friday.

Mr. Gowda, who visited the affected placesregretted the incident, and commended the steps taken by the Deputy Commissioner, B.P. Kaniram and the Superintendent of Police, M.A. Saleem, in bringing the situation under control.

Making an appeal to people of the town not to indulge in violence, Mr. Gowda said the district administration must take keen interest in ensuring that the victims were given compensation for the losses suffered by them.
