NEW DELHI, MARCH 3. A moderate earthquake today rocked North India triggering panic and causing cracks in some houses but there were no reports of any casualties. In Afghanistan and several cities in Pakistan, the quake was severe, measuring 6.7 on the Richter Scale, forcing frightened residents to scurry out of their houses. The quake occurred at 5.38 p.m. and had its epicentre in the Hindukush mountains of Afghanistan. In Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi, the tremors, lasting a minute, rattled doors and windows. In Kashmir, some buildings developed cracks but there were no reports of any casualty in the entire North. - PTI
