CAPETOWN, MARCH 6. Shane Warne goes into his 100th Test on Friday looking more like he did on his first overseas tour a decade ago, before he created a phenomenon which enhanced and changed the cricket world. At a time when two of Australia's most precious cricketing icons, Mark and Steve Waugh, have been moved aside to regenerate the one-day team, Warne has publicly proved a new commitment in his twilight with a strict and draining diet. However, there can be no argument that Shane Warne has done more for Australian cricket than any player since Don Bradman. The very fact that Wisden named Warne one of its five cricketers of the century highlighted the joy he has given cricket lovers around the world and the success he has brought to Australian cricket. Only India's Sachin Tendulkar can currently match Warne in terms of fame from the game. For a leg-spinner, to be second on the all-time list of wicket-takers with 436, suggests we may never see the likes of him again.
