COLOMBO, MARCH 9. A grenade exploded at an election rally of the ruling National United Front near the Sri Lankan capital on Friday, killing four persons and wounding 20, police and a party official said today.

``Someone threw a grenade,'' said Rajitha Senaratne, Minister for Land Reforms. The officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said no arrests had been made. All the victims were supporters of the National United Front.

Sri Lanka goes to the polls on March 20 to elect provincial councils.
