Letters to the Editor
Sir, In politics, one can see the Janata Party president, Subramanian Swamy, taking different postures. But one cannot disagree with the views he has adumbrated in `Solution missing' (March 7). The annual budget is defective in that it has failed to respond to the needs of an ailing economy. His suggestions to make Mumbai and Tuticorin free ports with off-shore financial and banking centres, and earmarking bonds for infrastructure development in rural areas to meet the WTO-mandated opportunities are excellent suggestions worth being considered by the Centre.
S. Sathyanarayanan,
