KOLKATA, MARCH 11. A day after the eruption of violence in Taldih, the village and its adjoining areas in the South 24-Parganas district were peaceful on Monday even as the BJP-VHP combine called a 24-hour bandh in protest against Sunday's police firing in which one person was killed and several injured. Normal life was, however, disrupted as people preferred to stay indoors. Shops and business establishments remained closed and para-military forces continued to patrol the area.
