ISLAMABAD, MARCH 12. In a reflection of the security environment, the Pakistan Government has decided to issue arms licences to all foreign diplomats now posted in Karachi. A report in the Pakistan English daily, The News claimed that the decision had been taken in view of the drastic increase in crimes such as abductions, murders and burglaries. Quoting from official documents, the paper said all foreign diplomats had been asked to immediately send their applications for the issuance of the licences. The measure will not apply in the case of Indian diplomats, as it does not have any representative in Karachi.
