Lucky break for Dhruv

BANGALORE, MARCH 15. Dhruv Sitwala could well count his luck. The bespectacled Maharashtra cueist gets a look in for the second Asian billiards championship beginning from March 18 at the KSBA hall here, as an alternative. Sri Lankans Suresh Hashim and Weerasinghee withdrew from the championship thus facilitating Dhruv's entry. Also in the fray is Myanmar's U. Aung San Oo.

Sitwala had a good run in the last National at Ahmedabad. And given this opportunity, he should make the best of it. A consistent player, without much frills, Dhruv is clubbed in group `A' alongwith other Indians Geet Sethi and Devendra Joshi. The lanky cueist should be able to make an impact.

Former World champion and current India coach Michael Ferreira, in a press conference on Wednesday, had hinted at the prowess of the Myanmar players in the 60's and 70's. U Aung San Oo, the third entry from that country, apart from U Kyaw Oo and U Win Myint, should in no way cause a flutter in the group, though one just cannot rule out a few upsets.

Boteju now remains the lone Sri Lankan in contention for the honours.
