Shun the bullet, Puri acharya tells people

By Our Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR MARCH 15. The Sankaracharya of Govardhan Math of Puri, Nischalanand Saraswati Dev Tirth, today called upon the people to shun the bullet and allow construction of a Ram temple at Ayodhya.

Addressing a press conference at Puri, he said it was not proper to make Ayodhya, birthplace of Ram, a centre of undesirable conflict. ``Let Ayodhya be a centre for world peace and Ramrajya (welfare state),'' he said.

``It shall be in the interest of the countrymen to facilitate construction of a Ram temple through adjustment, mutual understanding and cooperation, avoiding conflict in future.''

Observing that it was the duty of all parties concerned to maintain peace, he said that leaders of all national and regional parties must accord top priority to this problem and solve it amicably.
