Internet telephony

NEW DELHI, MARCH 15. The Government today cleared the decks for introduction of Internet telephony. In another development, the specialised tribunal on telecom issues allowed private basic phone companies to offer limited mobility services in the country.

The Government announced the acceptance of the TRAI report on Internet telephony which recommends the introduction of this cheaper but technologically inferior technology for long distance calls.
