A tribute to democracy: Cong.
By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, MARCH 15. The Congress today expressed relief that the day had passed off peacefully in Ayodhya. ``What happened is a tribute to the magnificent resilience of our democracy,'' said party spokesperson, Jaipal Reddy.

The party, however, objected to the fact that an officer from the Ayodhya cell was made to receive the `shila'. The Government should not have played a role in a religious function, Mr. Reddy said. He wanted to know what the officer would do with the `shila' that was handed over to him in Ayodhya today.
