I am very happy, says Rao
By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, MARCH 15. The former Prime Minister, P.V. Narishimha Rao, today heaved a sigh of relief at his acquittal by the Delhi High court. He welcomed the court's decision and said that the rule of law had been upheld and justice had been done.

Speaking to newspersons at his residence, Mr. Rao limited himself to hailing the decision.``I am very happy that I have been acquitted, the rule of law has been vindicated,'' he said. Mr. Rao also referred to the rather protracted legal battle he has had to wage: ``Its been a long and hard time for me to pass but ultimately justice has been done''.

The celebrations at his residence were rather low key with few partymen around. Earlier in the day, three of the former Prime Ministers, Chandra Shekhar, Deve Gowda and I.K. Gujral, visited him to greet him on his acquittal. The only Congress leader of note who was present at Mr. Rao's house was the former Youth Congress president, Bitta.
