NEW DELHI MARCH 16. The joint meeting of the Central Trade Unions on Friday called upon the trade unions and workers in the PSUs, including the financial sector and port and dock establishments, to carry on a united and vigorous campaign for a countrywide strike on April 16.

The meeting was presided over by R. K. Bhakt of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and attended by representatives of the CTUs, barring the INTUC. According to speakers at the meeting, the National Protest Day observed by the working class on Thursday was a grand success. They welcomed the decision of the United Forum of Bank Unions and federations of insurance sector to go on strike on April 16.

The trade unions asked the private sector employees, including those of the unorganised sector, to join the strike.
