Godhra massacre: Govt. staff suspended
Godhra
March 16.
The Gujarat Government today suspended a State Government functionary for his alleged `involvement' in the Godhra carnage, official sources said here.
Ianayat Abdul Sattar, a senior clerk with the Panam Dam division in the Irrigation Department, was arrested earlier along with 26 others. An order for his suspension was issued by the Superintending Engineer of the Department, the sources said.
The case pertaining to the trial of 18 of the 27 accused in the railway station mayhem of February 27 was transferred to the court of the First Class Railway Judicial Magistrate on March 13.
The 18 of the accused include the president of Municipal Corporation, Mohammad Hussain Kalota. — PTI
