Nod for Institute of Technology Bill

NEW DELHI, MARCH 17. Parliamentary approval was given to a Bill conferring Institute of Technology status to Roorkee University and another one incorporating new clauses for issuance of passports in the wake of the changing security environment, with the Lok Sabha today passing the two Bills by a voice vote.

Moving the Institute of Technology Bill, the Minister of State for Human Resources Department, Rita Verma, said due to heavy list of business, the Bill could not be brought during the winter session and, therefore, an ordinance had to be promulgated on December 30 last so that the students did not suffer.

The House approved by voice vote, the Passports (Amendment) Bill, incorporating some changes in the issuance of passports to replace an ordinance promulgated on December 30 last.
