Award for Tamil film director

VISAKHAPATNAM
MARCH 17.
The Gollapudi Srinivas award for 2001 has been bagged by the Tamil film director, Janaki Viswanathan, for the movie, `Kutty'. The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh and a memento is for excellence in debut ventures of directors, according to Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, managing trustee, Gollapudi Srinivas memorial foundation.
The award was instituted by Mr. Rao in the name of his son. The earlier winners include Leslie Carvalho (1997) for `The Out-house' (English), Shyama Prasad for `Agni Sakshi' (Malayalam), Manju Borah for `Baibhab' (Assamese) and Subrata Sen for `Ek Je Aache Kanya' (Bengali).
