Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Address Kerala

Sir, — While the whole nation is relieved that the shilanyas has ended peacefully, Opposition leaders such as Sonia Gandhi, Somnath Chatterjee and Mulayam Singh Yadav are nit-picking on a Government official taking part in the ceremony. On Ms. Gandhi's allegation regarding retrenching, it is only during a period of recession that jobs are cut and not when the economy is booming.

Nevertheless, will she advise the Kerala Chief Minister, A.K. Antony, to withdraw his orders restricting certain benefits for the State Government employees?

B.K. Ganapathi,

Bangalore
