Statistical highlights of Guwahati one-dayer
By Mohandas Menon

** Dinesh Mongia's unbeaten 159 was the fourth highest for India in LOIs. Only Sachin Tendulkar (186 not out v New Zealand at Hyderabad, 8-11-1999), Sourav Ganguly (183 v Sri Lanka at Tauton, 26-5-1999) and Kapil Dev (175 not out - also v Zimbabwe at Tunbridge Wells, 18-6-1983) have made more runs in an innings for India.

** Mongia's score was the 15th highest in LOI history and the sixth highest by a left-handed batsman.

** 158-run partnership between Mongia and Yuveraj Singh was India's second best for the 5th wicket after the world record effort between Mohd. Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja against Sri Lanka at Colombo (Premadasa) on 17-8-1997.

** The above partnership was the best by any country against Zimbabwe for the fifth wicket bettering the previous best of 152 between Pakistanis Ijaz Ahmed and Inzamamul Haq at Harare on 25-2-1995.

** The Mongia-Yuveraj partnership was also the highest ever for any wicket at this ground bettering the 124 (also for the fifth wicket) by Australians Michael Slater and Michael Bevan against South Africa on 1-11-1996.

** India's total of 333-6 was its fourth highest ever total in LOIs. However it was its highest against Zimbabwe obliterating the previous best of 319-6 in the second match of this series at Mohali on 10-3-2002. Incidentally, South Africa's 363-3 at Bulawayo on 23-9-2001 is now the only bigger team score against Zimbabwe in LOIs.

** The 74 runs conceded by Gary Brent in 9 overs is the most by any Zimbabwean bowler against India. Former leg- spinner Paul Strang had conceded 73 in his 10 overs at Colombo (SSC) on 1-9-1996.

** The wicket of Campbell was Zaheer Khan's 50th in 34 matches. He becomes the 130th bowler in LOIs and the 19th Indian to do so. Incidentally he becomes the fifth Indian left-armer after Ravi Shastri, Sunil Joshi, Maninder Singh and Venkatapathy Raju - all spinners - to reach this landmark.

** The 84-run partnership between Grant Flower and Heath Streak was Zimbabwe's best for the sixth wicket against India bettering the 64 run stand put on by Ali Shah and Guy Whittall at Indore on 18-11-1993.
