NEW DELHI MARCH 20.The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, today assured the MDMK leader, Vaiko, that the Neyveli Lignite Corporation in Tamil Nadu would not be privatised. The assurance was given when Mr. Vaiko called on him this evening and gave him a memorandum prepared by the NLC employees' union opposing the move to disinvest the NLC.
Mr. Vaiko told Hence there was no need for disinvesting or privatising it. Mr. Vaiko said that when he urged the Prime Minister not to accept the recommendations of the Disinvestment Commission to disinvest the NLC, the Prime Minister assured him that ``NLC will not be privatised''.
