Letters to the Editor
Sir, I was in tears after I read Mr. Panikkar's article. I also read P.P. Rao's article on `Ayodhya and the law' (March 19) in which he laments the Centre's espousal of the cause of the VHP and the stand taken by the Attorney General on the Ayodhya issue. Is this not a violation of court order? In its judgment in the Arundati Roy case, the Supreme Court had pronounced that howsover highly placed or financially or powerfully strong a person was, he/she has to abide by the rule of law or face the consequences of contempt of court. I feel each and everyone is responsible for the carnage in Gujarat and other places. C.S. Venkataraghavan, Chennai
