KOCHI, MARCH 24. K. Jayakumar, a sports assistant with the KSEB in Thiruvananthapuram, bagged a double in the first RSC Open all- Kerala tennis tournament which concluded at the Regional Sports Centre here on Sunday evening. State champions Jayakumar and Binu Mani recovered from a first set loss and won the doubles title, defeating M. S. Krishnakumar and Sanker Satish 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2. The long doubles final, Jayakumar's fourth match in seven hours today, ended only at 6.30 p.m. and the organisers decided to cancel the singles final owing to insufficient light. Jayakumar and Kerala champion M.S.Krishnakumar (HSBC), the two men's singles finalists, were declared joint winners and the prize-money was shared. The results: Men's singles final: M. S. Krishnakumar (HSBC, Tvm) and K. Jayakumar (KSEB, Tvm) declared joint winners. Semifinals: Krishnakumar bt Nilesh Dinanath (Ekm) 5-7, 6-3, 6-3; Jayakumar bt Binu Mani (KSEB, Tvm) 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. Men's doubles final: K. Jayakumar/Binu Mani (both KSEB,Tvm) bt M. S. Krishnakumar (HSBC, Tvm)/Sanker Satish (Tvm) 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2. Semifinals: Jayakumar/Binu Mani bt Binoj Mani (KSEB, Tvm)/G.Ramamurthy (KRL, Ekm) 6-3, 6-4; Krishnakumar/Sanker Satish bt Aram Kurian/Cecil George 6-1, 6-3.
