Addressing mediapersons, Mr. Vasan denied that there was confusion among party workers regarding the merger and added that they were all with the party. Even on Wednesday, a majority of the party MLAs participated at the legislature party meeting and those, who did not attend the meeting, had informed the party the reason for their absence. Referring to the removal of the party MLA, D. Kumaradas, Mr. Vasan said it was a collective decision of the party and any future action would have to be decided by the party alone. The party is planning to celebrate the birth centenary of Kamaraj in coordination with the Congress and other parties who were associated with the late leader. Earlier, he launched a film project on Kamaraj. The film would be released on the late leader's death anniversary. Mr. Vasan wanted the film to be dubbed in other languages and released throughout the country.
Hakeem falls in line
Meanwhile, the ``rebel'' TMC MLA, M.A. Hakkeem, appears to have fallen in line as the party legislature group leader, S.R. Balasubramaniam, today said that no disciplinary action would be initiated against him. Mr. Balasubramaniam told the media here that Mr. Hakkeem had given an assurance that he would not deviate from the party line on any issue. Till recently, Mr. Hakkeem had claimed that he would quit the party if it merged with the Congress, and after the expulsion of the Killiyur MLA, D. Kumaradas, he was expected to be sacked.
